ROGER
Where did you serve and what did you do?
Escorted a group of young adults along with another post member to visit Arlington and perform a wreath laying ceremony. The group of young adults all are part of a military prep program with the Loring Job Corps center and volunteer to do community service and veteran service support with all the veterans groups in Northern MAINE. Both of the VFW members serve as staff advisors to the students and travel by van over a weekend to complete the visit. The visit was capped off with the cadets also participating in the Association of the Army Convention meeting Army leaders and many positive networking connections for after job corps training
How are you Still Serving?
Everyday I work with young adults to ensure they know freedom is not free and develop them into better citizens by getting them involved in the many projects our post does in the local communities
Why do you do it?
Want to continue to showcase to all veterans what can be accomplished if just a few vets get together to work with the next generation of young leaders. Instead of sitting back and watching I want to continue to remain part of history even if its not written yet while also making sure the young adults realize that our country is great only through the dedication and sometimes sacrifice of our bravest defenders
