Where did you serve and what did you do?
Serving as the posts Poppy Chairman, coordinated and performed duties in and about the Town of Huntington, N.Y. at events and at various locations during various holiday periods. Over the past two year period over 100 “personal hours” were expended in support of the posts efforts to support disabled and needy veteran’s. During these efforts the Poppy Chairman brought in donations totaling over $8500.00. All funds have been deposited in the posts Buddy Poppy Account and these funds continue to provide the post with the means to continue their “ward parties” which are held at the Northport Veteran’s Hospital. Additional funds are utilized by the post to aid needy veteran’s and associated veteran’s programs.
How are you #StillServing?
Yes, still serving as the post Poppy Chairman and will be continuing the Buddy Poppy efforts for the post.
Why do you do it?
Having retired and now having time to spend, the position of Poppy Chairman enables me to contribute time and effort which aids those veterans who are in need. It gives me satisfaction knowing that these efforts are having results. Photo submitted was taken at the completion of the Towns Memorial Day Parade May 2021.
