Where did you serve and what did you do?

Scott Efflandt retired as a General officer from the Army in 2022 after 36 years of Active and Reserve service. His last military assignment was with 5th Army (at Fort Sam Houston, Texas) where he orchestrated Department of Defense assistance in support of Covid response, natural disasters, and the Southwest Border. Previous assignments included duty in Europe, Iraq, Kuwait, and several locations across the United States, where he worked with other services, governmental employees, foreign militaries, dignitaries, and international agencies. In addition to a tour at the Army’s office of Congressional Liaison, Washington DC, Scott enjoyed developing leaders and optimizing organizational structure while assigned to the faculty at the United States Military Academy and the Naval War College before becoming the Provost of Army University.

How are you Still Serving?

Scott Efflandt works as the Director of the Military Talent Pipeline at Texas A&M—Central Texas in Killeen, which places veterans in the fast-growing industries of Texas. Additonally he works with III Corps to facilitate Soldiers attending college in ways that support their military careers and benefit them when they return to civilian life.

Why do you do it?

Every day Scott is reminded of how great America is, and how fortunate he is to be a citizen. The least he can do is fulfill a civic obligation to pay it forward by trying to make America and life better for the next generation.
