Where did you serve and what did you do?
I was deployed to Iraq for 15 months in 2007 and 2008. My MOS was 88M Heavy Transport Operator but when I deployed, I was an M2 50 Cal Gunner and occasional driver on an XM1151 Gun Truck. Our platoon ran Convoy Logistics Patrols or CLP teams and route security between Baghdad and Bucca through the newly formed EFP Alley!
How are you #StillServing?
Today I am the president of our Post’s Riders group, Post Quartermaster and District Judge Advocate. I’ve helped institute essential supply pickups for our senior and disabled veterans since COVID-19 became an issue. I also help set up a program for school-aged children to use our Post’s hall and internet to do distance learning because of the rural makeup of our area.
Since Hurricane Laura hit our immediate area, I have been working nonstop to help my community wherever I can … handing out thousands of gallons of donated milk to the public, removing trees from roofs, tarping roofs, making fuel runs for those in need, helping fix generators, BBQ’ing thousands of pounds of meat to feed the community, organizing supplies from other states and helping distribute it to those in need! Just any way I can stay #StillServing!
Why do you do it?
I do it so others don’t have to … to give back to a demographic that has sacrificed so much already and never really asked for anything in return. It gives me a sense of purpose and camaraderie that can’t be found anywhere else in the world!
