Where did you serve and what did you do?
I was a Petty Officer 2nd Class (E-5). I served in Vietnam on board the USS Vega AF-59 in 1969. We conducted resupply operations in An Thoi, the Rung Sat River, Danang, Vung Tau, China Beach and on Yankee and Dixie Stations.
How are you #StillServing?
I am a Fire Party Leader (FPL) of the Honor Guard with the Guardians of Washington Crossing National Cemetery located in Newtown, PA. We conduct Military Honors for deceased veterans. I am the FPL for Monday’s Team which consists of an FPL. 7 man rifle team and a live bugler. We have 5 teams, M-F, heat, rain, snow we perform these honors. I have been doing this for over 7 years. The cemetery opened in 2010 and in all these years, we have never missed a mission.
Why do you do it?
It is truly the most rewarding thing I have ever done! It’s an honor and privilege to be part of a team providing a final salute to a fellow veteran. I believe that this is a wonderful way to continue to serve my fellow brothers and sisters.
