Where did you serve and what did you do?

I served in Army Reserve and Army National Guard for 10 years. Notable tours includes: Hurricane Katrina and Balad, Iraq. I was an 71L now 42A (Administrative/Human Resources) and 88M (Truck Driver)

How are you Still Serving?

I am a Community Advocate. I serve locally and collaborate with local organizations as well as Veteran organizations. I am a 3X All-American Post Commander. I am the female youngest to serve as Commander of our local post. Furthermore, I am the 2nd African American female to serve as post Commander. I am proud to say that our post (Capt. Horace G. Burke VFW Post 3480) out of East Saint Louis, IL will be 90 years old this year and grateful to be apart of HERSTORY (History). I chose to step in a role that was foreign to me and learned from my comrades growth.

Why do you do it?

I do it because I recognize my purpose in life: Service and Humility. Time is the best gift anyone can give. I embrace my core values the military instilled: LDRSHIP… LOYALTY DUTY RESPECT SELFLESS SERVICE HONOR INTEGRITY AND PERSONAL COURAGE
