Where did you serve and what did you do?
VFW Post 1514 members have served in World War 2, Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm, Iraq, Afghanistan, & some are still on Active Duty in all 5 branches of service to our great country. From Grunts to Special Forces each veteran has a different story yet we share the same ideals. #WeServed!!
How are you #StillServing?
Our post pulls together and outperforms all other Texas posts in Community Service. We serve our community and the 5 rural schools in 5 towns/villages within a 60 mile radius. Buddy Poppy Days goes beyond our schools and communities with multiple members teaching the Story of the Poppy. Loyalty Day & Memorial Day are School visits several of our members look forward to the variety of student’s ages and the uniqueness of their questions. Grade School services include Pledge of Allegiance memorization and its true meanings, Junior High School visits with History Classes sharing our Patriotism stories and the Patriot’s Pen Essay Contest throughout the Summer and Fall, plus counseling and witnessing our 5 High Schools, with students from all walks of life, levels of Patriotism, questions concerning their service options, History Classes that look forward to each VFW visit and our sharing of the Voice of Democracy Essay Contests.
Over the past year with the pandemic we still offered our services to our community, our veterans, and schools in ways we hadn’t imagined earlier yet we never missed an opportunity to increasingly serve our patriots, maintain 100% of our members, and increased our post membership. WE ARE #StillServing!!
Why do you do it?
Our 5 separate schools’ students are very impressionable and quizzical, learning from their variety of teachers which includes our VFW members, to keep patriotism alive and well in our communities surrounding Village Mills, Texas. As long as our 30-95 year old Veterans continue to serve our communities, march in parades, share our pride and professionalism, WE ARE #StillServing!!
