Where did you serve and what did you do?
USAF 354th TAC – Vietnam Conflict, Operation Linebacker II
How are you #StillServing?
VFW Post 6902 is supporting local veterans, active military, National Guard and Reserve units with financial, materiel and physical assistance. Most recently, we helped revitalize the Battle of Midway Memorial Park located at Naval Weapons Station Earle in Colts Neck, NJ. The park was in dire need of new informational plaques to help educate visitors to significant historical events that took place during the Battle of Midway. In addition to the new plaques, our post members provided more than 100 hrs of labor to prepare graphic files, scrape and paint outdoor structures and power wash walkways. On 06 June 2022, NWSE Commander, Captain Edward L. Callahan hosted the grand re-opening of the park, which was attended by VFW Post 6902 members, local politicians, active military, reserve units, Naval Sea Cadets and several WWII survivors.
Why do you do it?
As the newly elected Commander of VFW Post 6902, I consider our commitment to Naval Weapons Station Earle as a badge of honor for both myself and all post members, many of whom served with merit in the Navy and Marines during times of International Conflict. Even today, we continue to offer aid to the Naval Sea Cadets with weapons’ safety training and academic scholarships as well as funding to MWR for gala events.
