Taking Pride in Lifelong Service
Vice Commander Carmine Garritano, Sr. and other members of Warwick Valley VFW Post 4662 in Warwick, New York, are Still Serving one another and their community year-round.
“We’re involved in various community events related to things like suicide prevention and Mental Health Awareness Month,” he said. “We also host an Honor Flight fundraiser and collect donations for food pantries, a hospice facility and a local organization that provides items to active duty service members.”
Garritano, Sr. praised his Post for taking a proactive approach to lifetime service.
He said, “What makes me proud of our members is their complete disinterest in sitting around our Post telling war stories, gambling and drinking.
“Instead, our facility is a small office dedicated to answering questions about benefits and assisting veterans and their family members in times of need.”
