VFW Day of Service

Every Single Veteran Makes a Difference

The annual VFW Day of Service is a meaningful way for every veteran to show America how they make their communities stronger — even if that means running a solo mission. If you’re interested in participating in this year’s event, here are some ideas for organizing a Day of Service of your own.

  • Gather food or supplies for a group in need by encouraging donations from friends, family, co-workers and others in your community
  • Help an elderly or disabled neighbor complete a home project
  • Perform a small park or memorial clean-up
  • Participate in a run/walk to raise funds for charity
  • Volunteer at a local school (i.e., speak to students about service)

These Tools May Help

Depending on your service project, you may find some of these promotional materials helpful. For instance, you could:

  • Hang a poster to let community members know about your upcoming event
  • Put out a yard sign during your event to raise awareness
  • Post to your social media accounts to get the word out about your service project

Invite your friends, family and fellow veterans to support your efforts! We’ve got ready-made social media messages and graphics to help you spread the word.
