Here’s a look at what Posts and community leaders have done for past Day of Service events.

  • VFW Post 2260 in Oconomowoc, Wisconsinput their own spin on a food drive by hosting ‘Fill The Humvee,’ where they collected donations to support individuals and families in need within their local community.
  • VFW Post 5080 in Morrow, Georgia supported their community by preparing and serving home-cooked meals to residents at Calvary Refuge Homeless Shelter in Forest Park, Georgia.
  • VFW Post 4934 in McComb, Mississippi hosted a blood drive and collected personal hygiene items for unhoused veterans and veterans that reside in nursing homes.
  • In Escondido, California, Post 1513 spent the day cleaning up a local “Wall of Courage” and its adjacent park.
  • VFW Post 1 in Denver, Colorado partnered with Colorado Veterans Project to host a run.
  • Lemon Grove, California veterans at Post 2082 hosted a CPR class.
  • VFW Post 8185 hosted a community service event.
    Included live music, food drink, thank you card station to thank a veteran and accepting onsite requests for home repair, yard clean up, houseless to home support and collection drive for food  & hygiene products.
  • VFW Post 5699 in Ocean Springs, Mississippi gathered supplies and met at the Post to assemble backpacks for foster children.
  • veteran resource fair was hosted by VFW Post 5178.
    Representatives were available from several veterans service organizations, as well as service officers onsite to assist with claims and staff from Missouri Vet Center and the local VA Medical Center in Columbia.

    Once complete, this structure will offer veteran housing.
