VFW Post 2108 Is Still Serving in Tennessee

Although members of VFW Post 2108 are no longer in uniform, they continue to serve their immediate community in Johnson City, Tennessee, and surrounding areas.

One way the Post supports young people and their families is by participating in the local Toys for Tots campaign. The Post provides a secure place to collect toys and a distribution point for families to pick up the gifts. The Post also raises money for the toy drives by holding trivia nights.

Additionally, in 2024, Post 2108 members assisted Operation Homefront, a national nonprofit, during the Back-to-School Brigade. The Post donated school supplies and traveled across the state to help distribute them to 600 military children. This program reduces the financial burden of purchasing supplies for active-duty families and helps set up children for success in school.

In support of its active-duty comrades and their families, the Post adopted the India Company, 3rd Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment through the VFW Military Assistance Program and has become the host of its unit functions.

VFW Post 2108 members are Still Serving their fellow veterans by regularly hosting a game night for hospitalized heroes at the local Department of Veterans Affairs. It has also partnered with Nuclear Fuel Services and its Veteran Employee Resource Organization to participate in Honor Flight of the Appalachian Highland’s First Annual Dragon Boat Race to raise money to send veterans to Washington.
In response to their active community service projects, a Post 2108 representative said, “We, as veterans, have an inherent responsibility to preserve our history and inspire the next generation to appreciate the sacrifices made in service of our great nation.”
