Where did you serve and what did you do?
The Veterans Life Center in Butner N.C. is designed to help at-risk 21st Century veterans and prevent them from falling into homelessness, incarceration, suicide or premature death. Their mission is to improve the lives of these Veterans and help them with reintegration into civilian-life problems by providing temporary housing, services and training with the goal of achieving self-reliance.
VFW Post 8466 of Wake Forest N.C. participated in a bark mulch spreading at the Veteran’s Life Center in Butner N.C. on Saturday April 15. Six members of our Post spent the day helping the staff and residents of the V.L.C. spread 4 truckloads of mulch and topsoil around the facility and its trees and gardens as well as telling them about the VFW, our Post and the many things we do to help Veterans in need. We also had a chance to eat lunch with them and socialize more with them. They were all appreciative of us taking the time to help them and share military experiences with them. We will be looking at more ways in the future to help this facility and its residents in the future.
How are you #StillServing?

Why do you do it?
We do it because the VFW’s mission is to Honor the Dead by Helping the Living.
