Where did you serve and what did you do?

Iraq. CBRNE specialist. Also worked under department of Homeland Security as an urban search and rescue technician.

Tell us how your dog is helping you continue Still Serving in your community.

She helps me stay calm and productive throughout the day. The VFW in Barrio Logan, Don Diego, is our second home. It’s truly a family atmosphere! If I’m not stressed she goes to the commander, QM, or other comrades to help alleviate their anxiety. She greets new members and folks from the community when we do food give-away days.

Why do you do it?

I help other veterans because I’ve struggled with mental health, addiction, and homelessness. Someone brought me a hot meal when I needed one so I will always do the same. No veteran should go without housing, food, or medical care. We’re here to support each other. Recently, we’ve been getting more involved in helping deported veterans. The photo is of her at the border wall in Tijuana, helping to hang deported veteran murals.
