How are you Still Serving?

Myrtle Beach, SC just hosted a PGA Golf Tournament. Taking part in this tournament was the VA Vet Center mobile information van.. Along with the van there was a Patriot’s Outpost tent (for veterans). During my volunteer hours at the tournament. I assisted VA personnel by helping set up their veteran displays each day, in providing information to any and all veterans who asked. Answered veteran questions as i could or referred them to a more informed VA person. Assisted with the distribution of various VA information packets. At Patriot’s Outpost (manned by male and female veterans or veteran family members) we provided a resting are for veterans attending the tournament. We provided drinks and snacks to any veteran who asked and most importantly we provided an open opportunity to just chat with any veteran, or family member who wanted to talk. Several we referred to the VA Vet Center staff for help with understanding their veteran benefits and we even issued a couple of Vietnam Veteran 50th Anniversary ribbons to those that served, but had not received their ribbon.

Why do you do it?

Because it is the right thing for post-military veterans to do. Serve their community and help fellow veterans in any way they can.
