How are you Still Serving?

On the 4th of July the local American Legion sponsors a “Salute to the Shore” with a ‘flag carry’ along all of North Myrtle Beach’s 8 miles of beach shoreline. 88 volunteers, in teams of four (I represent our VFW Post with my team. There are other Post members who also participate in this event), carry the American, South Carolina, POW-MIA and Purple Heart flags on the beach in about 1/3 of a mile segments. Each year I put together a team of four veterans from my community to be a part of this wonderful event. I am the only VFW eligible member, but that doesn’t matter. This is one wonderful display of Americanism and I am always proud to be part of it. The picture is of the four of my team.(two Navy, one Army and me Air Force). I am far left with the Purple Heart Flag.

Why do you do it?

No better way to show American Patriotism!!
