Where did you serve and what did you do?

USAF 3-1966-11-1987 Air Traffic Controller 22 months in Vietnam

How are you Still Serving?

Each year VA facilities sponsor a “Stand-Down for Homeless Veterans”. Along with a myriad of VA services that are offered on that day. Many VA facilities provide food and clothing for the homeless veterans. The Myrtle Beach, SC VA Clinic is no exception. Their difference is they provide me with a specific list of needs for their Stand-Down. I, through Post 10804, and other volunteers try to fulfill the Clinic’s wish-list. For their stand-down on 18 October, I collected and delivered to the VA Clinic (with the help of the post, a business, a non-profit and some individual donors) 17 light coats, sweaters and flannel shirts, 11 pairs of sweat-pants, 10 long sleeve turtle-neck sweater-shirts, 6 golf shirts. Food items included 198 bottles of water, 112 individual serving snack-packs and nine 1/2 gallon size packages of dry milk.

Why do you do it?

Because I know there are too many veterans out there that are less fortunate than others and they/their families could use some help No picture of this delivery, picture is of an earlier delivery to the VA Clinic
