USAF 1966 to 1987 Air Traffic Controller. 22 months in Vietnam.

How are you Still Serving?

. I live in a 55+ community of 140 homes. Of that there are 21 known veterans in the community. I thought it would be good to get us veterans together for coffee and donuts once in awhile. Since 2021 I have been hosting this event (last one April 3rd). I try and provide the latest info I have on the VA and what’s going on in regards to veteran issues. This meeting I had the latest version of the VA Benefits book to distribute, I had information on women veterans issues and applications for our women veterans to join the Military Women’s Memorial, or to just tell their military history to the memorial association. I give them information on how to qualify for VA eligibility and we just have general conversations on any subject anyone wants to talk about. The get-togethers are well received and greatly appreciated.

Why do you do it?

because I feel it is important for veterans to have a source for veteran related issues and it is important to some to just be able to talk freely amongst fellow veterans.
