Where did you serve and what did you do?
I served in Afghanistan in 2005 with the 82nd Airborne as an Infantryman.

My service animal Ghost is a European Great Dane, through her service to me, I have fully been able to get off prescription medications that I was taking for years due to my issues with PTSD. I am the current Commander at the Wyandotte VFW, Post 1136 and Ghost is vital in allowing me to get out and recruit others into the VFW and help show them the importance of the VFW and the support that Service animals provided. She is the current mascot of the Post and seems to naturally comfort those that may be having a “bad day.”
Why do you do it?
Service to others, has allowed me to feel that there is still a mission. If Ghost and I can bring others to the VFW and allow them to see what a great organization this is and possibly help or save them, then our sense of purpose is full filled. From our Vietnam veterans through our veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan, we as a nation, struggle to help those that need us most. Suicide plagues these veterans; hopefully, our interaction with them shows them that their is a new family that has their six and is there for them always.
