Where did you serve and what did you do?
United States Air Force Crash fire rescue
How are you Still Serving?
As the Department of Montana Chaplain I conduct weekly battle brother/sister checks across Big Sky Country. Encompassing 64 VFW Post and nearly 8,000 members. The chaplain’s role is way more than people think. The chaplain’s responsibility is to notify every VFW Member that if they’re struggling or need a friend to talk to when it’s 2 o’clock in the morning, they can pick the phone up and call me. I believe it IS imperative that WE make ourselves available 24/7 to connect with our Members and let them know that we truly care about the struggles that come along. Our Mission as Chaplains is to build connections with our Members through communication, and an active presence to let the Members know that they are not alone.
Why do you do it?
I believe that every VFW Member has a different story to share and that by simply listening and connecting with that Member gives them the ability to communicate freely knowing that someone is actively working on their behalf.
