My VA doctor prescribed a service dog to help me with a severe reoccurence of PTSD episodes. My service dog “Major” picks up on my blood hormone change extremely quick to get me refocused and grounded. He will paw me, lick my face, or even jump on me if needed. My doctors acted quickly to get my medications straight and with smaller doses and now Major is vigilant to my well-being.
Why do you do it?
I want to get the word out to other veterans that getting older may change PTSD symptoms and if so, your doctor can help and maybe a service dog can also help.
