Where did you serve and what did you do?

I served in the USAF as a military pay specialist and deployed to combat zones as a paying agent.

Tell us how your dog is helping you continue Still Serving in your community.

My dog Chester had a 13-year therapy dog career at the time he passed away in May of this year. During that decade+ of service, Chester brought so many smiles to the people he met, whether we were doing “formal” therapy dog work at a nearby assisted living center or library, or just going for a walk around the neighborhood. He was the sweetest dog and had the most waggly tail, which he never hesitated to use. Every person he met become an immediate friend.

Why do you do it?

Getting Chester registered as a therapy dog was a way for him and I to serve together. I enjoy volunteering and spending time with him, and what better way to accomplish both at the same time. It was such a rewarding experience and it brings tears to my eyes that my companion of so many years has gone over the rainbow bridge. RIP to my wonderful boy.
