Where did you serve and what did you do?

US Army 2001-2013. Served combat tours in Iraq (2006-2008) & Afghanistan (2009-2010) as a 62B, Field Surgeon.

How are you Still Serving?

Work as an ER doctor now and part-time clinical faculty at Uniformed Services School of Medicine. In 2020, started a small non-profit called Operation Restore Decency. We work on civics & humanitarian projects with a focus on bringing to the forefront the stories of fellow Soldiers I served with that were KIA in the GWOT. Over the last several years, have also highlighted Veterans from past wars that have been forgotten, particularly from my home state of NJ.

Why do you do it?

Service is in my blood from both sides of my family and was instilled in me from a young age. It is not something I consider to be a hobby or part-time activity, but rather, a core part of my character. It can be a struggle to find ways to serve at a level equivalent of being in uniform, but I think commitment to helping others, even in the smallest ways, is and will always be worth the time and effort.
