Where did you serve and what did you do?

I was a Chaplain that supported Combat Operation in Iraq and Afghanistan. I also deployed to support humanitarian missions in South America and the Caribbean.

How are you Still Serving?

After leaving the military I started a non-for-profit called Feel the Warmth Inc. which provides survival kits to persons on the streets exposed to the cold. The program works with schools to provide volunteer opportunities in making the kits and teaching youth about the challenges of homelessness. Once the kits are made, my team and I deliver them to homeless encampments in various cities. Many of those who receive the kits are displaced homeless veterans. We have built partnership with several veteran organizations to provide ongoing care and resources individuals exposed to the cold.

Why do you do it?

As a Chaplain, caring for people is the job. It made no difference to me if it was in or out of uniform. The blessing with the non-profit I run is that it gives me the opportunity to be out in the field providing care to veterans just like I did for soldiers while I was in the military.
