Where did you serve and what did you do?

I served from 1982 through 2009 in the US Marine Corps and Reserve. I served as a judge advocate, civil affairs officer, operations officer and liaison officer. I deployed to Kuwait and Iraq in 2003 in support of OIF. I also deployed numerous times to Korea for exercises and operations.

How are you Still Serving?

I volunteer for Mama's Kitchen, a San Diego food bank that prepares meals for people with medical conditions, such as heart disease, diabetes, renal disease and AIDS. I serve on the Board of Directors and deliver meals to clients. The work is rewarding and is a way of giving back to the community.

Why do you do it?

I believe it is important to give back to our communities. This is one way in which I give back to my community and in which I continue to serve others. By helping make and deliver these meals, I am giving hope to those in the community that are less mobile, less employable and have less hope. It is important to help give them hope and a way of regaining their health.
