Where did you serve and what did you do?

I served in ’84-’85. My MOS was 91A. I was trained to be a Combat Medic, but I was stationed in Ft. Campbell, KY. Military Hospital and did nursing assistance in the base Hospital until I was moved to MOD #1, Troop Medical Clinic on the 1st floor of the hospital. It was then that I was in an accident that retired me permantly from the U.S. Army with a disability.

Tell us how you’re giving back to your community.

I attend the local gym, where I started going for the free Vet Swim, but while there, I have helped other vets get more comfortable in the water in the pool. I also stay stocked in materials needed such as extra swimsuits, soaps and conditioners, towels, bandaide, nuts (snacks), unsecured ice tea, ice cubes, combs, etc… for anyone who may have forgotten something or has a unforeseen need. I have also been there for a friend of mine who was a Marine Vet, who got sick suddenly. He didn’t have any family to help him with his ‘end of life’ decisions as he was in no condition to do so. I had to help him with everything, including his Celebration of Life after his death, because nobody else was there to do so.

Why do you do it?

I do it out of Love for my family and friends. This includes my brothers and sisters who Served.
