Where did you serve and what did you do?
I served as a Korean Language Analyst in the USAF for over a decade both in Ft. Meade, MD, and Osan AB, ROK, from 2006-2017.
How are you Still Serving?
I serve as the Senior Case Manager for Volunteers of America Southeast’s first-ever SSVF grant in the state of AL. We began this grant in October 2019 and served throughout COVID rehousing homeless veterans and mitigating veteran evictions as a housing-first agency.
Why do you do it?
In June 2017, when I separated the Air Force from Osan AB, I came back to AL desperately seeking work for three months while living out of hotels between Birmingham and Montgomery. I promised to ensure other veterans didn’t experience the same housing crisis I did if at all possible. Thankfully, two years after moving back to Birmingham, VOASE posted their case manager job for the new SSVF grant and I’ve been serving with the company ever since.
