Where did you serve and what did you do?
I served in the US Navy from 194 to 1990. I sailed on the USS Nimitz and USS America as part of VA-86 and then VFA-86. I also spent a year in Diego Garcia as a SAR Helo technician.
How are you Still Serving?
As the Computer Networking and Cybersecurity instructor at Forbes Road CTC, I am Still Serving by empowering the next generation of IT and cybersecurity professionals while giving back to my community. My students and I provide volunteer technical support to veterans at the Southwestern Veterans Center, helping them stay connected with their loved ones and access essential services. Through our Teens Teach Tech program, we educate senior citizens on cybersecurity best practices, ensuring they can navigate the digital world safely. By combining education with service, I continue my commitment to protecting and supporting others, just as I did in the United States Navy.
Why do you do it?
As the Computer Networking and Cybersecurity instructor at Forbes Road CTC, I am Still Serving by empowering the next generation of IT and cybersecurity professionals while giving back to my community. I do this not just because I love it, but because I want to instill in my students the importance of service and giving back. The best way to teach them is by example—asking them to “Do as I do,” rather than just listening to what I say. Through our volunteer work at the Southwestern Veterans Center and our Teens Teach Tech program, my students learn firsthand that true leadership means putting others first. By serving our community, we not only strengthen our technical skills but also build character, responsibility, and a lifelong commitment to helping others.
