Lillington, North Carolina

Where did you serve and what did you do?

I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in March 1960 and retired with the rank of GYSGT (E-7) in 1984 after 24 years of service as a supply specialist. I served two tours in Vietnam for a total of five (5) years: five (5) tours in Okinawa, Japan, Hawaii, and Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

How are you Still Serving?

Since retiring, I have continued to serve as a veteran ambassador as a lifetime member of Spring Lake’s Memorial VFW Post 4542 and current Trustee, helping veterans at the Fayetteville North Carolina Veterans Affairs Hospital and the Fayetteville Veteran Center. enjoy being active and sharing my story to advance other veterans during poppy drives and VFW recruitment.

Why do you do it?

To inspire and be inspired by our newest generations; to continue to actively engage with our society and our nation. Our veterans are very important across the United States; they are willingly still standing in the line of fire to ensure the freedom of our people.
