Where did you serve and what did you do?

2 years ago I was a homeless disabled Veteran. I bought the best home I could afford in Sattler, TX, which required $20,000 in repairs. I completed the work this past fall when my AC failed, costing me another $27,000!

How are you Still Serving?

The following month, a fellow Veteran and local leader had an accident. I funded and ran a benefit for his family, which cost me nearly everything I had left. Then I turned 50 in December, and donated the last $500 of my life savings to the VFW.

Why do you do it?

I couldn't think of anything better to look back on 20 years from now… that when I got off the street, even when I was at my poorest and most alone, on my 50th birthday I gave everything I had to help fellow Veterans.
