Where did you serve and what did you do?
I am a U.S. Army Veteran who served in Operation Iraqi Freedom/Operation Enduring Freedom from 2006–2007. While deployed, I was injured in combat and awarded the Purple Heart. Today, I continue to serve the military community as the spouse of an active-duty Soldier and have supported our family through five military placements. My experiences span both uniformed service and the enduring commitment of military family life.
How are you Still Serving?
Beyond my formal role as a Veterans Service Officer, I remain actively involved in Veteran advocacy at the community level. I work closely with the VFW, particularly during the holiday season, to raise funds for Veterans’ children and ensure families are supported with Christmas gifts. Throughout the year, I also participate in and support various events focused on Veteran outreach, assistance, and community engagement.
Why do you do it?
I do this work because service did not end for me when I left the uniform. My experiences as a combat Veteran, Purple Heart recipient, military spouse, and former Veterans Service Officer have shown me how difficult it can be for Veterans and their families to access the support they have earned. I understand the system, the sacrifices behind the paperwork, and the importance of having someone who will advocate with knowledge and compassion. This work allows me to continue serving those who served.
