Where did you serve and what did you do?

I served 22 years in the U.S. Army as a Cannon Crewmember (13B), retiring as a Sergeant First Class. My service included multiple deployments in roles such as base defense, perimeter security, detainee operations, and personal security detail (PSD).

How are you Still Serving?

I currently serve my rural community as a volunteer fire chief in Utah. I lead, train, and support volunteer firefighters, maintain emergency apparatus, write grants, and help ensure reliable emergency services in an area with limited resources. I also mentor younger members and focus on building a department that will continue to serve long after my time in leadership ends.
Outside of the fire service, I support fellow veterans through community projects, including creating handmade lap quilts for veterans in care facilities using donated military uniforms.

Why do you do it?

Service didn’t end when my military career did — it simply shifted closer to home. I believe service is about responsibility, showing up when it matters, and leaving things better than you found them. Rural communities and veterans rely on people willing to step up, and I still feel a responsibility to do exactly that.
