Where did you serve and what did you do?

Basic Combat Training at Fort Leonardwood, MO… AIT (76P) & TDY for Skill Identifier (M6) School Yielded Membership in the U.S. Army Quartermaster Corps at Fort Lee, VA… Then (52nd Maintenance CSB) attached to 8/43 ADA (Mixed Patriot & Hawk Missiles Battalion) in Giebelstadt Army Airfield in Giebelstadt West Germany. Selected for combat in the First Gulf War 1990 -1991(6 Months). Then Returned to Germany for a few months and they deactivated our unit (and eventually closed down the whole base) and I was sent to Fort Jackson, South Carolina for out-processing from Active Duty. I then enrolled in college and the SROTC at North Georgia College (A Senior Military Institute) where I earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. Simultaneously, I was serving in Wintersville, Athens, GA. at 357th HHB Support Group. We completed our JRTC (Joint Readiness Training Center) at Fort Polk, LA. in preparation for Bosnia. Oddly enough, years later (after a quick assignment at Buckley AFB/SFB with DECA; I would end up currently at Fort Polk, LA. again working with DECA (Defense Commissary Agency) where I continue to serve the Active & Veteran Community still today!!!

How are you Still Serving?

I serve the Active and Veteran Military Community everyday while employed at the Fort Polk, LA. Commissary.

Why do you do it?

The lifestyle is in my blood. My grandfather was in the Big Red 1 (1st. Infantry battalion) during WW2 and my father (Army in Vietnam) and then my stepfather (U.S. Air Force – Okinawa during Vietnam). I then followed my stepfather around the world and then I went around the world too.
