Where did you serve and what did you do?

I was Security Forces in the United States Air Force. Since transitioning out of the military, I’ve stayed connected to the veteran and military community by participating in events like the Buddy Poppy Drive, Boots on the Ground, and the American Valor Foundation Chris Kyle Memorial Benefit. I also attend monthly VFW Post 11406 meetings and stay active as a Wounded Warrior Project Alumni and Ambassador for K9s for Warriors.

Tell us how your dog is helping you continue Still Serving in your community.

My service dog, Ben, plays a huge role in helping me stay engaged. Ben gives me the confidence and calm I need to participate. Ben gives me the strength and stability to stay involved in my community. Whether it’s connecting with fellow veterans or showing support at community events, Ben helps me show up and be present.

Why do you do it?

Because I believe showing up matters. Being present at these events and in these communities is my way of continuing to serve, honor those who’ve worn the uniform, and support those who still do. Service looks different now, but the mission is still the same—support, remembrance, and connection. Staying involved allows me to honor those who’ve served, support those who are still serving, and stay connected to a purpose bigger than myself. With Ben by my side, I’m reminded daily that I’m not alone—and that showing up matters.
