Where did you serve and what did you do?

Comrade Armstrong has strengthened the VFW and his Post by recruiting several new members. As the Post Guard, he mentors new members in the VFW rituals and maintains order at meetings. As First Year House Committee member, Comrade Armstrong manages the bartending scheduling and staffing of the Post Canteen, providing a clean, inviting, and relaxing environment for Post Members and guests.

How are you Still Serving?

As the Post Guard, Comrade Armstrong mentors new members in the VFW rituals and maintains order at meetings. Comrade Armstrong established monthly Spaghetti Dinner Night and directs the advertising, food preparation, and clean up. He assists in meal preparation and delivery for Celebrations of Life held at the Post.

Why do you do it?

Comrade Armstrong participates in the city of Lawrence Fourth of July Parade, including leading the team in constructing the Post’s float for the parade. He solicits submissions to the Voice of Democracy, Patriots Pen, and Teacher of the Year programs and coordinates the Post’s reception for the participants. Comrade Armstrong coordinates and participates in several Flag Retirement ceremonies conducted at the Post. He volunteered to work with the Post Auxiliar and Riders with the Post Family Day celebration, Easter Egg Hunt, and Christmas with Santa programs.
