Where did you serve and what did you do?

As a US Army Soldier (74B 25B Information Systems Administrator) I served on active duty at Fort Hood, TX under the 13th COSCOM, later renamed to the 13th ESC. I deployed twice to Balad Airbase, Iraq (2004, 2006-2007).

How are you Still Serving?

When I separated from the Army, I wanted to continue to support my military family in the ways I could so I searched for contracting jobs that I felt were very beneficial to my brothers and sisters in arms. Since then I have designed and deployed enterprise voice services for the government in support of bringing the DoDDoW into compliance with modern emergency voice services.
I also support the veteran community in a variety of ways, through the VFW at post 8555 as the current webmaster (https://vfwpost8555.com/), and have been selected to be the next post adjutant.
I also support the VFW Combat Tested Gaming (CTG) as the Server Administrator for the National and Texas Department Discord Servers. In CTG we hang out, talk to veterans about their issues, commiserate about our service experiences, and coordinate support for Veterans in need or crisis. To date, we have prevented at least six veterans from applying permanent solutions to their temporary life problems. We have also held virtual memorials for service members who have lost comrades but were unable to physically visit or attend a service. Laying poppies down at graves, on-behalf of members who were unable to participate.
I am also a leading member of my local Wilson County Texas veterans association where we increase networking between veteran organizations through monthly dinners fostering increased awareness of the work veterans are doing in my community through website hosting and administration (https://wilcovets.org/).

Why do you do it?

I serve because I want to support my military family. The bonds made within the military community are often more than just fraternal.
