Without my dog Maverick, I would not be able to handle large crowds or sudden loud noises such as fireworks. He has the uncanny ability to anticipate the noises and come to me and press his body against me to “prepare” me for it. He also can notice when a lot of people begin to make me uncomfortable. He will sense that and, being a bigger dog, come between me and the rest of the people forming a type of barrier for me.

Why do you do it?

I do it because it is in my blood. I also want.to make sure the story of my friends that died are not forgotten
