Where did you serve and what did you do?

I started as an 88M in the Minnesota Army National Guard, then changed my MOS to 63B. I then joined the Regular Army as a 63B, and served at Fort Stewart, GA and Fort Lewis, WA. I ended up ETS'ing there and moved to Des Moines, IA to be with my wife who was stationed there in the Army Reserve as an Active Guard Reserve (AGR) Soldier. I became a unit administrator there, and went to Warrant Officer Candidate School. Became a 915A Unit Maintenance Technician and went onto the AGR program. Deployed to Kuwait / Iraq in 2003, and worked as a 251A – Informatoin Systems Technician. Once I got back from deployment, PCSd to Arden Hills, MN working in a Maintenance Company. Moved to Fort Belvoir, VA to a Sustainment Brigade still as a 915A. But, communicated my interest with all of my raters of my high interest in becoming a 251A. I finally got my wish and the Army agreed to let me change my MOS, by attending the 251A WOBC at Fort Gordon, GA. Once I graduated, I PCSd back to Fort Belvior and worked in the Military Intelligence Readiness Command G6. I stayed there until I retired on 1 March 2015.

How are you Still Serving?

I work as a contractor for the US Army Enterprise Service Desk. I also run a website called https://MilitaryCAC.com which supports service members around the world in using their Common Access Card at home. Many days I feel like I am still service, just don't have to put a uniform on.

Why do you do it?

I enjoy helping people with computer issues, and treat each person as the important person they are. I realize that many people have gotten bad representatives on help desks via phone. Since I've been supporting servicemembers since November 2007, I have a lot of knowledge to help military personnel use their CAC at home.
