Where did you serve and what did you do?
Vietnam US Navy/Desert Storm, Naval Reserve Watercraft operations As the head of a historic preservation organization we use restored military equipment in public shows, festivals and events. The dogs are with me and many times people want to spend time with the dog rather than the jeeps and trucks.
Tell us how your dog is helping you continue #StillServing in your community.
My Rotties help me cope with issues, they understand before I do when I’m about to experience an abdominal attack (I’m a pancreatic cancer patient) and the dogs travel with me what little traveling I do. Our last event a National Night Out/Touch A Truck event became a “touch a dog” event when “ANAI” our latest became the center of attention. They help people to relax, sit and talk and basically wind down. For me, they keep me working in the public eye.
Why do you do it?
We do it because our history needs to remain in the public domain, as long as we’re there to talk with the general public and interest young people in its preservation, those wishing to put their twist on it cannot do so.
