Where did you serve and what did you do?

I served as a machinist mate in the Navy. I served from 1976-1998. I mainly served on the east coast. I was on the USS Portland during the blockade of Falkland islands. I Served on the USS Luce during the gulf of sidra incident. I then served at the Beirut/Lebanon BLT Headquarters as a rescuing assistant, for the bombing of the building. I assisted the hostage relief efforts in Iran during the Iranian hostage crisis. I served on the USS Nassau during Desert Shield/Storm. Provided air support and ground attack for Desert Storm. As a machinist Mate I designed a new cooling system modification for the Humvees that were overheating in the desert sand.

How are you Still Serving?

Presentation for VFW organization and patriotic info about the military. Promoting Voice Of Democracy and Patriot Pen essay contests. Managed entire ceremony during Pearl Harbor Day presentations along with Christmas Parades, North Carolina Veterans home !!! I also helped manage and work with the girl/boy scouts, local volunteers, American Legion members, Am Vets and the VVA. They installed and removed over 300 flags on veteran graves in the community a week before memorial day, and remove the week after memorial day.

Why do you do it?

Promoting the flag and VFW purposes/principles. Correcting old impressions of what the Veterans Of Foreign Wars functions and programs are currently! I also want help put unity back in the community!!!
