Where did you serve and what did you do?

I served 30+ years on active duty in the U.S. Coast Guard (15 years enlisted, 15 year officer). I enlisted as an E-1 and retired as an O-4. I served on a patrol boat in the Carribean (drug interdiction), two icebreakers in Antarctica (polar operations), and one high endurance cutter in the Pacific Ocean (fisheries enforcement, drug interdiction and search & rescue) and in the Persian Gulf (national defense). I served at various shore facilities in San Diego, Alameda, Seattle, and Alexandria, VA.

How are you Still Serving?

After my active duty retirement, I was hired by the U.S. Coast Guard as a civilian employee in Alexandria, VA where I currently serve (10+ years) as a Lead IT Specialist/Data Analyst/GIS Professional at the U.S. Coast Guard Navigation Center.

Why do you do it?

I love serving and contributing to the many U.S. Coast Guard statutory missions.
