Where did you serve and what did you do?
I am regular volunteer at CrossOver Healthcare Ministry in Richmond, Virginia. As a registered nurse volunteer, I work alongside other nurses, doctors and healthcare professionals to help carryout CrossOver’s mission of providing affordable healthcare to the working poor. CrossOver’s healthcare mission is supported by volunteer medical professionals dedicating their time, talent and experience to patients in need.
How are you #StillServing?
I am still serving as a military veteran and registered nurse not only at CrossOver Healthcare Ministry but also with the Virginia Department of Health Medical Reserve Corp. As well, I volunteer at other community events where I can put my many years of military training and nursing skills to good use in support of the community.
Why do you do it?
Over the many years of my military service, I learned the importance of being a volunteer. Not by what I volunteered to do but by seeing the benefits that came to me from others who volunteered their time and talent. This included watching my wife (Army spouse and mother) in her many volunteer roles as we traveled from Post to Post. Now it is a true pleasure to volunteer as a nurse with other medical professional volunteers. I am humbled to be able to volunteer beside some many truly dedicated volunteers.
