Where did you serve and what did you do?
I served 20 years in the Army. While my military occupation is Patient Administration. I worked as a Combat Medic throughout my career with primary leadership roles. I have two tours to Iraq and one tour to Bosnia.
How are you Still Serving?
I volunteer once a week at a VA nursing home, providing haircuts at no charge to the veterans who reside there. Seeing their enjoyment and confidence after a fresh cut is incredibly rewarding and gives me a deep sense of purpose and belonging. I am also a life member of VFW Post 10210 and American Legion Post 189, where I proudly serve on the Honor Guard. In this role, we provide final military honors to veterans who have moved on to their eternal rest. There is no greater honor than standing in salute and helping give a fellow veteran the dignified farewell they have earned.
Why do you do it?
The primary reason I serve is because God has called me to do so. Beyond that, I have always loved serving my country, and the camaraderie of being surrounded by my brothers and sisters in arms is deeply fulfilling. Remaining connected to the veteran community gives me purpose, strengthens my spirit, and helps keep my PTSD at a manageable level.
