Where did you serve and what did you do?

I and my grandson personally took our powered washer to Fort Novosel and powerwashed the brick, sidewalks and other mildew and dirt covered area of the U.S. Army Warrant Officer Career College. We painted the steps with safety yellow paint renewing the curb appeal and marking steps going into the college in multiple entrance. We, the group, pulled the weed beds and made them floral and shrubbery, while also painting curbs and trimming trees that hung in the way along sidewalks. The leaves and general grounds were raked and made pristine.

How are you Still Serving?

An active member in the post 6683 with community projects, an senior vice president of The Army Aviation Association of America, a pilot volunteer for Friends of Army Aviation by flying and running a army museum, board member of the Aviation museum heritage foundation and the foundation for hospital art. I recruit, interview and review warrant officer candidate applicants application packets Usually put in roughly 10 – 12 hours a week helping others in some form or another.

Why do you do it?

To assist the community as a good citizen letting both the military and civilian communities know that retirees of the services are still very capable at making things happen and getting things done. Taking my kids and grandkids to volunteer opportunities has really blessed them with personality, a sense of service in helping others, even when they’re strangers.
