Where did you serve and what did you do?

As a Navy widow and Auxiliary member, I am the lead dog handler at VA Southern Nevada. My two certified hospital therapy dogs, K9 Asta and K9 Kane love to do their scheduled hospital rounds – I’m just at the end of the leash.

My dogs interact with patients making them feel secure in a hospital setting where PTSD and anxiety are very real issues.

Why do you do it?

The welcome we receive from both patients and staff make our visits the highlight of our week.
