Stony served in Vietnam and the Persian Gulf war.
How are you Still Serving?
Comrade Stony Lohr is currently our VFW Post Adjutant and Service Officer. Has served for elven years in the past as the Post Commander. Year in and year out, Stony has dedicated time, sacrificed above and beyond what is expected to support needs of the Veterans in and around our great state. Stony has been the service officer for our Post for over 10 years. He is the first to stand up to help a Veteran or Veteran’s Spouse in need, always leading by example. Comrade Lohr is very diligent in supporting Veterans and spouses in obtaining VA benefits and support in the local community. During the summer of 2023, a Veteran was in need. A young homeless Veteran was living out of his car. Stony with our Post’s support, in coordination with the local American Legion Post, and the support of Healing for Heroes Non-profit; the Veteran was taken off the street, placed in a hotel, then a VFW members home, and finally off to college this past August 2023. The Veteran is now a student in college in Georgia and living there. Stony works tirelessly every week delivering Meals on Wheels to families (to include many Veterans), and their families in Fayette County, Georgia. Comrade Lohr is active in many other organizations in the community such as his Church, local food banks, and the Assisted Living facilities in Fayette County. He works diligently in supporting Veterans and spouses in obtaining VA benefits and support in the local community. In summary, Stony is dedicated and extremely resourceful. He is constantly going above the call of duty to serve her fellow veterans, families, no matter the cost of time or money. Stony’s continued display of dedication and service, sets a strong service leadership example for everyone. His efforts provide life-changing results for many within our community.
Why do you do it?
His love of God, Veterans, and their families. He is a believer in the motto: Duty, Honor, Country.
