Where did you serve and what did you do?

Entered the Marines in 1978 from Dallas, Tx, and did basic in San Diego, CA. Trained as an 0311 Infantryman. Stationed at Marine Corps Base Hawaii, Kaneohe Bay, HI, with K Company, 1st Battalion, 3rd Marines. Earned VFW eligibility being awarded the Marine Corp Expeditionary Medal through deployment to Korea.

How are you Still Serving?

Active member as the Assistant Quartermaster and volunteer at and within Post 2278. Managing day-to-day functions of the Post building. Attend every meeting, work with other members at membership drives, poppy drives, at post community activities, and assist the Auxiliary with activates withing the post and community. Ran the Toys for Tots campaign in 2023 for the duration of the season in conjunction with the local Marine unit.

Why do you do it?

I feel a strong connection with other veterans and military folks. I like that that we act as a real-life Band-of-Brothers. We can mess with each other, but don’t let an outsider try to mess with any of us. We do good things in the community, and do them well, because we are a mix of different people with different backgrounds and skills to make things happen. I have a lot of time available to be at the Post helping out. I like being there and around like minded people.
