How are you #StillServing?
1. Established the Society for the History of Navy Medicine in 2006, serve as Executive Director. The bulk of our members are active or retired military medical personnel. Our mission is to support research, study and writing of the history of medicine as it relates to the maritime environment.
2. Established and coordinate the Albany Base Hospital No 33 Society, an alumni military affinity group at Albany Medical College. Our members are alumni who’ve served in the armed forces and the Public Health Service. We meet once a year, at alumni reunion time, to swap old sea stories / camaraderie, and listen to an interesting speaker.
3 Serve as the Ship’s Store manager for the Naval Order of the United States, a 501(c)(19) organization dedicated to the preservation and promotion of Navy history. Founded in 1890, it is the oldest naval history organization in the Country. I’ve served as Commander of the San Francisco Commandery of the Order, and as the founding Commander of the Order’s Continental Commandery, a virtual entity established to serve Companions who live far away from the established “brick and mortar” Commanderies which are located mostly on the coasts.
4. I am the Post Surgeon of VFW Post 1123, Vallejo California.
Why do you do it?
I’m exceptionally proud of my military service and the experiences it’s provided me. I work with the finest people in the country, veterans of all services. I want to give back in my own unique way.
