Where did you serve and what did you do?
I served in the US Navy as a sonar technician and a combat diver on a fast attack submarine.
How are you Still Serving?
I retired in 2016 after 26 years as an educator. Soon after, I felt the need to give back. I started volunteering for local non-profits and absolutely loved it! Later, I saw there was such a need for veterans like me. So I dedicated myself to strictly veterans and first responders. I organized small groups of veterans and took them skiing, bowling, and to play golf. Then I got involved with Military Broadcast Radio, an internet radio station that specializes in podcasts. Now, I am heavily involved with Soldier Songs and Voices. We help veterans obtain instruments, write songs, and record them. As the lead of the Denver chapter, I am in the process of revamping our program. We meet at Post #1 every Monday evening from 7 to 9 PM. I also have an SSV podcast as well.
Why do you do it?
It's very important to pay it forward. I get way more out of it than I give!
