Where did you serve and what did you do?
US Air Force Mar 66 to Nov 87 including 22 months in Vietnam
How are you #StillServing?
Years ago I volunteered to be the S.C. VFW VAVS coordinator for the Myrtle Beach, SC VA Clinic. I have been working in that capacity since. Providing food and clothing to the clinic. Since the 1st of January I have solicited donations for food and clothing for the clinic’s veteran support programs. Feb 15th marked the second time I have delivered goods to the VA Clinic. My latest was 101 boxes of the Food Lion Feeds meal boxes that contain enough food for a family of 4. Back in January I had collected and delivered 28 of these boxes to the VA Clinic. These food boxes contain 2 cans of vegetables, 1 can tomato sauce, 1 box of pasta, 1 family size box of mac & cheese and 1 pound of rice. This food is used by the VA Clinic for their UCH program and their curbside deliver food service for veterans in need and veteran families.
Along with the food, I have collected and donated 20 new long-sleeve, turtle-neck, sweater shirts and 10 new t-shirts with DoD silk-screening. A total value of just under $1,200 (food and clothing). The picture is of me and Myrtle Beach SC VA Clinic Volunteer Services Manager Mrs Anderson as she accepts the 101 food boxes and 20 shirts.
Why do you do it?
Why doesn’t every fortunate/capable/able veteran do it? Take care of their own kind who are less fortunate ?
